The results of this study led to the juice of red grapes called king of fruit and berry juices. However, before you rush to the store for those, it would be good to draw attention to the main component of red grape juice - sugar.
Like all fruit juices, the juice of red grapes contains much sugar. In one well-known juice brand contained 40 g of sugar to 240-ml. juice. That is, 100 ml. drink containing 16.66 gr. On the other hand, the Coca-Kola contained 35 g. of sugar to 330 ml. I.e. 10, 6, in 100 ml. This means that in the red juice contains 50% more sugar than Coca-Kole.
Is this excess of sugar may negate some heals properties, which are attributed to polyphones in the juice of red grapes? Apparently, this is a rhetorical question.
Sugar in the fruit and berry juices, as the juice of red grapes, mainly in the form of glucose and fructose. As I wrote before, while fructose is often viewed as a «useful» form of sugar, there is evidence that this is not true.
Just this week, for example, a study was published, which stated that this form of sugar might be in no small degree of harm. The study, published in the journal «Hematology», rats fed with sugar solution containing or glucose, or fructose (2). Feeding rat’s fructose led to two serious consequences: an increase in making fat in the liver and reduce the efficiency of protein lepton (among other functions, lepton reduces fat and promotes the formulation of the incineration of fat in the body).
The study revealed that some of the negative properties of fructose were the result of the deterioration of function receptor known as alpha- acid. This receptor is present in the human body, and its activity in humans is lower than in rats. As a result, one of the authors of the study «Hematology» suggested that the effect of fructose on human should cause even worse effects than those observed in rats. It seems that there is every reason to believe that consumption of fructose may contribute to the growth of obesity observed in the world.
Given all this, there is reason to argue that fruit juices should be consumed with caution. The presence in the composition of juice polyphones and antioxidant action does not take into account all the properties of juice and has an impact on the health of people.
